Day 21 - Skip White Potatoes today


Even the best of spuds have a way of making your blood sugar rise. Rising blood sugars causes your body to release insulin in response. Here's why that's a problem for weight loss.

Insulin is a fat-storing hormone that supersedes all of the fat-burning enzymes that may be working in your body. Yes, you read that right, insulin release stops fat burn in its tracks.

Potatoes are ALL around us - from hashbrowns to french fries, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, and potato chips. They are also added into foods like potato rolls or buns, and many soups.

Potatoes often show up as an additive in the form of dextrose, a sweet tasting compound used in food manufacturing (like shredded cheese) as well as in IV fluids in the clinical setting.

Do yourself a favor today - and skip white potatoes. Choose sweet potato, carrots, parsnips, beets, onions, or other root veggies to have instead.
