Day 19 - Vitamin D - Sunshine in a Bottle

If you've never taken a Vitamin D supplement, today is probably THE BEST challenge day of the entire 30 days for you!

Vitamin D, in all its glory, has associations with so many disease states and health conditions that you would have to have your head pretty much buried under the sand to miss the importance of this vital nutrient.

The value of adequate Vitamin D levels reaches much farther than building strong bones as we learned in grade school. In fact, it's a bit staggering the number of health conditions -- even the length of our lives -- that can be improved by boosting vitamin D levels.

Now, you certainly do not have to take a supplement. Just adding in a Vitamin D- rich food such as salmon, egg yolks, or milk to your day will get you a goodly dose. Or spend about 15 minutes in the sunshine if you have lighter skin, and about 1 hour in the sunshine if you have darker skin.

Because different latitudes allow for production of Vitamin different times of the year, it's always a good idea to consider taking a Vitamin D supplement during the winter months. Since it's March, many of us may be trending low with our Vitamin D levels, especially if we are not taking a little extra.

Bring some sunshine in a bottle into your life today. You will notice the difference!
